Do you have a show at KVRX? What's the name and what's it about?
My show is called “Fangirl On Tour!” This is a show where I talk about the latest news in pop culture while playing some of my favorite songs. I love debriefing about the latest news surrounding music, celebrities, and movies, keeping you in the loop with what’s trending. If you’re too busy to keep up with the latest new in the media then get ready to dive into the fandoms you love as “Fangirl On Tour” covers it all!
Why you joined KVRX?
I joined KVRX because I wanted to find a community of people who loved music. I went to my first KVRX meeting and I just knew this was the place for me. I have found some of my best friends here, and love that I have a group of people who will always give me new music to listen to. From hanging out in the library next to the walls full of CDS to completing side quests where we see our favorite artists together. KVRX has provided me with many great opportunities to get experience in the music industry. It has allowed me to manage their social media for about 2 years and has provided me with opportunities to interview some of my favorite artists. KVRX is a place that provides opportunities and friendships for students.
What's your favorite KVRX memory?
My favorite KVRX memory was this end-of-year social! Witnessing my friend Rayna, the current station manager, pass the torch to Mary was truly special. Mary and I worked closely as PR Directors together from 2022 to 2023 and covered many cool events such as SXSW in 2023. I had so much fun going to the KVRX unofficial SXSW showcase during the day and later that night Mary dragged me out of bed at midnight to go see Lucy Dacus at an official SXSW showcase to which we joined other KVRX members to experience this special moment together. So seeing her get crowned as the new station manager was a full-circle moment. My favorite moment of the night was everyone running to the dance floor when they started playing One Direction. I had just finished my last final as a college student and being able to sing and dance to No Control by One Direction with everyone in KVRX will forevedr be a core memory for me!!! I <3 KVRX.
Advice for New DJs?
My advice for new DJs is to make the most of being in KVRX. Go to deep listening. Go to rotation. Go to general meetings. Go to our KVRX shows. Get involved. I know it can be scary but trust once you get over that fear you will find that KVRX has some of the most welcoming people. We are here to have fun and cheer each other on. Make the most of the opportunities presented to you. Go make those core memories!!!
