Sean O'Hagan (High Llamas): Musical Painting

Submitted by sdl1986 on Sun, 06/15/2008 - 17:43.

"This new audio-visual collaboration from musician Sean O'Hagan and artist Jean Pierre Muller, with Dominic Murcott, uses cutting edge technology softened by human, organic forms, combined with musical values of composition and arrangement.

The Musical Wheel is a trio of freestanding circular paintings which follow the evolving wheel to Detroit, the spiritual home of the motor industry and the everlasting home of Motown.

Luke Haines Memoir

Submitted by sdl1986 on Wed, 06/11/2008 - 04:59.

Luke Haines will release his memoir titled Bad Vibes: Britpop My Part and Its Downfall in January, '09. This is great news because Luke Haines is easily one of my favorite songwriters ever. The Auteurs' first three albums are PERFECT:

OFF MY ROCKER* is the blackly comic memoir of Luke Haines, founder member and acclaimed singer songwriter of the Auteurs, Baader Meinhof and Black Box Recorder and a legendary figure in the music world where he is variously heralded as the pioneer, the godfather or the forgotten man of Britpop.

Submitted by sdl1986 on Sat, 03/22/2008 - 10:29.

Tonight, hear the wonderful Gorky's Zygotic Mynci as I chronologically explore their vast body of work, from the ramshackle psychedelic pop of Patio and Tatay to the beautifully orchestrated country-folk melange of their latter period. And if there's enough time, I'll even play a track or two off frontman Euros Childs's recent solo LPs.

Here's a bio written by Stephen Thomas Erlewine from AllMusic.com:

DJs should look at the Music History Club bin

Submitted by sdl1986 on Mon, 02/04/2008 - 13:23.

You should check a couple of the CDs out. They're older, maybe even more obscure, than some of the other stuff that's already in the library. It couldn't hurt to put your faith in someone you don't know's taste. You might even come away with a new favorite album. I can say with full certainty that my contribution has the power to change the world.

BY THE WAY: the bin is by the bulletin board in the booth.
