Upstream tomorrow from 7 to 8pm

Submitted by Lcohen on Wed, 04/23/2008 - 21:15.

Check out Upstream Radio from 7 to 8pm every Thursday evening. We are a social justice show, which focuses on issues that are effecting people globally and right here in Austin. Tomorrow, we are having Kymberlie Quong Charles on our show to speak about raising a gender neutral child in a gendered world. What if you don't want your baby to fit into a blue or pink world? What happens when you want hir to decide for hirself? How does one do this, when our society is so focused on categorizing its children?

I love Ojos de Brujo

Submitted by Lcohen on Tue, 04/22/2008 - 21:11.

Okay, I know that I have a community programming show, so I am not supposed to dip into the music population, BUT I love the band Ojos de Brujo. I have been going through a Spanish music phase, which is how I came across them. They are a fantastic self-proclaimed Flamenco, hip hop band, and I love them for it. Their latest album, Techari, is my favorite thus far, because it is more dynamic and intricate than previous albums. For more information, you can check out their website at www.ojosdebrujo.com or www.myspace.com/ojosdebrujo.

Upstream is hosting Sims and drummer of Butthole Surfers at 7pm on Thursday

Submitted by Lcohen on Wed, 04/09/2008 - 17:45.

Hey Everyone,

Tomorrow is going to be a great show on Upstream. We are hosting Sandy Bruce, the executive director of the Sims foundation, and Teresa Taylor, drummer of the Butthole Surfers. We shall be talking about the beautiful side of madness: How mental health issues can positively impact someone's life. Think about all of the great musicians and artists who had depression or bipolar disorder or some other mental health issue. Where would we be without them?
