What's up? This is DJ Lee from TokyoSeoul! We play Japanese and Korean music and help introduce you to new artists and new sounds. We stream online Mondays 12pm-2pm if you want hear some new, fun music.
Let me start off by saying that I really love music from Asia. You wouldn't guess it but I was actually a very picky music listener when I was young. I listened to very few artists and only one or two genres of music, all in English. Now, I couldn't be more different. I listen to music in every genre and I'm open to any language of music. With my mind opened for the first time, I feel like I more than made up for all the years in my life that I did not be adventurous in music! I have since explored music from China, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, France, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Iran, Mexico... I feel a bit music-obsessed! Others look at my collection of music and feel overwhelmed or may not relate very well to my tastes. That's why I'm interested in hosting this radio show. As a DJ for TokyoSeoul with KVRX, I can introduce the music I love while we explain about the groups to help out a new listener or someone who may not be familiar with the artist. I feel that I can connect with others through music and when we share a song that we like, we can feel closer. I believe that language does not hold someone back from understanding the meaning or emotion of the song, and that is what I want to show others who may be skeptical that they could like this kind of music.
Next week will mark our first month hosting TokyoSeoul! To celebrate, we chose the theme for our next show to be requested songs from our listeners. We hope that our first month of TokyoSeoul has been a great experience for our listeners and will continue to be a great adventure! Yay!
