Not being a big fan of the mash-up genre, I was apprehensive when
I figured out what this CD was. I still feel conflicted about it. His
main trick that separates him from acts like Girl Talk is “tearing” the
samples apart, making for a skippy, glitchy sound. This makes them
less like the pop party tunes of his contemporaries and more like
somber toned experiments with pop instrumentals, hip hop beats
and rapping. He manipulates and skips the samples so much that it
completely removes them from their original context and creates a new
atmosphere for them. This makes the songs sound much more like
a collage then those of other acts. If you like this style of music then
definitely recommended, otherwise listen to a song and you will get the
idea.
