Austin based R.C. Cat's self titled /relased EP is a solid debut of feel good, synth-heavy dance pop. Each track is composed of great bouncy synth, smooth & sexy guitar that drives each song almost like a bass line, and some very catchy drum sampling. "Can't Explain" (2) and "Girl" (4 / 5 - include the outro!) are both very catchy singles. So is "Pop Music" (7), but its lyrics are pretty literally self aware. The album's closing track, "Nicole" (8) is a nice smooth ballad, but while "Remote Control" (3) would be excellent for DJing a dance, or something I'd really dig at a house party, it doesn't really translate from live to radio play.
She uses a lot of chill sounds throughout her songs. Her songs have a really good and strong beat. They're pretty basic dance songs. Track 3 has a pretty cool intro and a pretty sick beat. Her voice is kind of low so that makes the songs seem a little more chill in my opinion, even though they're pretty quick beats.
I already knew about JEK before I saw this in the bin and to be honest I was so psyched to get it because I was getting tired of his old stuff. This album is super synth-y, enough to make you feel like you are slipping into another dimension. The vocals are soft, the drums are loud enough to give you a nice beat to sway to, the synth is bad as fuck. since htis guy is Finnish don't even listen to the lyrics because they don't make sense but this guy knows his music pretty damn well. The way he hads a saxophone in some tracks is heavenly.
