Ian Mackaye, half of The Evens and former member of both Minor
Threat and Fugazi, has been known for his aggressive style when it comes
to songwriting. Since he started The Evens with his wife, Amy Farina, a lot
of that edge has simmered down, but that does not stop The Odds (hurr hurr)
from producing some solid tracks. The track “King of Kings” is a nice lead-
off track with alternating vocals. “Architect Sleeps” has that nice loud-quiet-
loud style Mackaye has been known for in the past. “This Other Thing” and
“Wanted Criminals” sound like Fugazi era tracks, but they both are still
distinct enough to be their own beautiful thing. Every track on this album is
pretty good except “Let’s Go Well”. I do not recommend that one.
