Broken Social Scene, 14 Mar 2003
  http://www.arts-crafts.ca/bss/

Broken Social Scene played 5 tracks from their You Forgot It In People release at KVRX during their 2003 visit to Austin for a SXSW showcase.

The set has become a popular spin by KVRX deejays, despite the fact that the production team may have been hitting the Jack Daniels during the performance, with arms outstretched in the universal Rock-n-Roll gesture, instead of minding the signal levels.

Yes, I suppose so. Really what I'm saying is that Broken Social Scene rules. To me they're more than a band... and I don't want to sound too corney, but they're more like a phenomenon. Seeing them live was the most amazing performance of my life. I can't wait for more.

I have to agree with Philip. BSS is one of the most incredible bands to come along in many, many years. You Forgot it in the People is quite possibly the best album of the past decade. They were mind expanding at SXSW, and had everyone going at ACL Fest. I can't wait for them to come back to Texas. And KVRX is awesome too.

There is clearly a song from YFIIP..... track one is "Stars and Sons" and yeah they are a bit of a phenomenon

Phil, thanks for the suggestions. The two tracks added to archive.org were not added by us. I think adding them to the site would be cool, but I think we're (which mostly I mean me) are occupied with putting together the new compilation to seek out BSS's permission to do something like that. As for the vocals, despite the humble description above, a lot of the recording difficulties weren't on our end. The band had been on the road for a long time, and came directly to KVRX to record. We were considering one of the tracks for our annual compilation, but for those reasons we decided not to use it. This performance actuallly predates the release of YFIP (domestically, I'm not sure about in Canada) by a couple of months. I know how you love that snare off Austin!?!?!

i think that broken social scene is a great band by using several simple riffs to combine and form like a powerful rock voltron. it reminds me of the good ole tmey jam bands minus the impending death of a key member due to miscalculated drug use.
PaulyD :: DC :: :: 12 Jul 2005 @ 10:01:51 :: 4.5 (out of 5)
I heard a song on Live365, googled the band. Track 2 is this textured and sweet sounding and whoever this gal is singing is no pop singer - she's got soul.
