Weird Weeds, 30 May 2004 |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Weird Weeds (Austin, TX) surprised us with seamless structured improv, beautiful guitar work, and an outsider approach to sound-making and composition that included bowed drum kit, sidewalk-chalk slide guitar, and threaded steel rods on strings. In context, these techniques didn't sound like 'tricks' at all. |

| They were pretty good, but a little too loose or random for me. One seriously redeeming quality: they talked about Fat Day's pulsating-light helmets for a few minutes. Ahhh... brings back memories. | |
