Bowl possibilities for the Longhorns and the rest of the Big 12.

Here's a current outline of potential bowl pairings with Big 12 teams. Obviously, where Texas goes is the main focus in this blog.

Big 12 teams eligible: Kansas (11-1), Missouri (11-1), Oklahoma (10-2), Texas (9-3), Texas Tech (8-4), Texas A&M (7-5), Oklahoma State (6-6), Colorado (6-6). Kansas St, Nebraska, Iowa State and Baylor are ineligible. All teams are guaranteed bowl bids.

Bowls allotted to Big 12: Fiesta (BCS), Cotton, Holiday, Gator (this yr, not last), Alamo, Insight, Indpendence, Houston. If the Big 12 gets the Gator (which they should) then they give up their bid to the Sun bowl, which Texas Tech went to last year.

BCS Title game could change the group some, but actually probably won't, unless Kansas gets in as an at-large, which they very well might.

If Missouri beats OU: Missouri goes to the BCS Championship game, Kansas goes to the Fiesta (possibly, doesn't have to).

If OU beats Missouri: OU goes to the Fiesta, Mizzou and Kansas might go to other bowls, but then again, may not.

Prediction: Mizzou wins, goes to BCS Title game

Fiesta: Kansas vs at-large (could be Georgia, or even Hawaii)

Cotton: Texas vs Tennessee/Auburn/Florida, though Tennessee goes to Sugar if beat LSU, and Florida

Holiday: OU vs Oregon (USC goes here if UCLA defeats USC)

Note: Texas has all but guaranteed a spot between the Cotton and the Holiday, it's essentially up to them, only wouldn't if something crazy happens in the Big 12 championship game and/or BCS championship shocker.

Gator: Texas Tech vs Clemson/Virginia (apparently Gator loves Tech, might have already offered)

Alamo: Texas A&M vs Wisconsin/Michigan/Penn St, Michigan played there recently and I think Wisconsin will go there instead of Outback where they were last year. A&M next logical choice, beat Okla St, better than Colorado I think.

Insight: Oklahoma State vs Indiana/Michigan St/Purdue, could be any of 3, have choice over Iowa/Northwestern because of 7-win seasons, could go with Colorado easily.

Independence: Colorado vs Mississippi State, Mississippi State likely, guaranteed in with 7 wins, Kentucky though has a lot more desire to go at 7 above them. Colorado only one left.

Texas: Houston vs ??? at-large. Ran out of Big 12 teams. So an at-large gets in, could be an extra Big 10 or SEC team or maybe some hope for one of the non-BCS conferences. Unsure, just not big 12. Only will be used if Big 12 has only one BCS team this year, which is possible.

That's just a guess of what to look for over the next week in bowl acceptances, though the Big 12 title game in San Antonio will have a huge impact and potential trickle-down effect on the rest of the conference.
