Cambodian Psychedelic Pop

Isn't it just irritating when there are two shows you really REALLY want to see on the same day? So The Fleshtones are playing Mohawk (see my post below), which should be a super rad show. Well I just found out about another show that I will be very sad if I miss. They're a band out of LA called Dengue Fever. The lead singer is originally from Cambodia and most of their songs are in her native language (Cambodian?). They play a unique blend of 50s surf-rock, 60s psychedelic with, I don't know, let's say a South East Asian flair. Their debut, Venus on Earth, was released recently and it's the coolest thing I've heard in a while.

So I've got a huge dilemma for tomorrow night. Garage rock legends vs Cambodian psych pop. Hmmm. Luckily, Dengue Fever is playing right next door at Club Deville. Anyone want to join me in show-hopping?
