Last week, the Reverend and I made an agreement to host the other's show if our team became eliminated from the NCAA men's basketball tournament. While both of us are big Longhorn fans, we also have other allegiances: He, being a Kansas grad (currently a UT grad student), was rooting for the Jay Hawks and I, being the son of a UNC grad and life-long Carolina fan, was pulling for the Heels.
So my dad flew in from Virginia with 4 Final Four tickets and along with my wife and 15 month old son, we all drove down to San Antonio and... well...did you see the 1st half? Yikes! Obviously, that didn't turn out as I had hoped.
However, as a consolation prize, I get to play some of my favorite funk and soul tonight as guest host of the Afro-Boogaloo Soul Revue. Meanwhile, the Rev will be living it up in the Alamodome (we hooked him up with our tickets).
I've planned a nice reggae set following the funk, too, including a crucial Sleng Teng mix, a nod to the Rev. Martin Luther King, and a mini-tribute to Mikey Dread who passed away last month. (A bigger and better tribute to honor the founding father of roots radio selectors is soon come.)

Cutest Alamodome Attendee.
