Last night, which will probably count as two nights ago, I was in the Funniest person in Austin Contest. I didn't advance. So I won't win this year. I've been replaying the whole thing in my head and honestly I have no regrets about the performance. I took two and half months off from stand-up and headed back with a new perspective and some really eccentric material, and it's not like I stunk up the joint, it's just that maybe, my material isn't what stand-up is about. I actually think I'm onto something with this material though, but it just isn't refined and so I won't be advancing to the semi's. I'd be willing to go out on a limb and say that my stuff was the most eclectic of the night. And to sum it up, it's who I was creatively for the last two and a half months. It's not like I was writing to be funny. I was writing to be genuine and derivatively be funny. Weird act though.
Chicago Bound.
