Mikey Dread was most famous in his homeland for his work at the Jamaican Broadcasting Corp., where he started an all reggae show that aired for 4 1/2 hours (starting at midnight).

The combination of Mikey's quirky, fun-loving personality and the shear quality of music made his show, Dread At The Controls, the highest rated show on the station, despite its unfortunate time slot. In the face of its popularity, the JBC refused to give him a prime time slot so Mikey quit the show and began to focus on his career as a reggae DJ, singer, and producer.

For the Artist Hour, I hope to stay out of the way and do as little talking as possible so the show can flow as a continuous mix with Michael "Mikey Dread" Campbell as your virtual host. Mikey will do most of the talking through his famous jingles from Dread At The Controls. The music will focus on Mikey Dread's musical masterpieces from the early 80s.

Mikey Dread passed away this past March after his battle with brain cancer. Rest In Peace, Mr. Campbell, The Dread At The Controls!
