So I was at a coffee shop the other day and Syd Barrett was playing over the radio. He asked me if I would miss him and my answer was yes so I searched for him on the APL internet catalog: http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/library
They had a best of compilation (CD ROCK BARR)
(BTW they have The Madcap Laughs at the Fine Arts Library: MU 39922)
and two CDS by the Television Personalities (song "I Know Where Syd Barrett Lives)
One was titled early singles and rarities and after a little wikipedia research I decided to place it on hold.
There are a lot of things that are adorable about this album
Yes Darling, but is it Art?
There are a a lot of things that are honest about this album
Everything is extremely British about this album
Speaking as a new listener something seems to get lost on the later tracks as the production value goes up. The DIY crept out and the eighties crept in. But most of the tracks are absolute gems:
king and Country
Where's Bill Grundy Now?
Smashing Time
Three Wishes
Oxford St, W1
etc...
Moral of the story: Get to searching- you never know what you'll find!
also: you should love the bomb like you love your mom

music at the public library
Hey Ana Marie,
I'm the "music" librarian at the Central branch of the Austin Public Library. Let me first say, thanks for pimping our music collection! We love happy library patrons!
I'm in charge of buying replacements for Central and I get quite a bit of requests that I purchase too. So, if YOU or any of your listeners/readers want us to buy something, just tell me! I'm happy to do it. Tell them to find Jennifer Connor at Central. I also have a suggestion box in the CD area at Central, fill out suggestions to your hearts content and I'll do my best to get them.
I also love donations. Especially local/Texas acts. Same thing, drop off anything (in good condition) with my name on it.
Thanks so much,
Jennifer
