KVRX Presents: Flavor of the Week
Each week from 9-10pm, deejay Kelsey O. plays a sampling of musical acts that will be performing in the Austin area within the next 7 days. She sorts through website after website, venue calendar after venue calendar, and band after band to bring YOU, the music-lover and music-goer, the best acts to expect in the next week. Want a one-stop place to hear new music, find out what shows are coming up, when and where they are, and which of these are worth the cover? Well, Flavor of the Week is the show for you. Let Kelsey O. do the tedious task of visiting venue websites, following band tweets, sorting through Facebook events, and searching Myspace tour schedules while all YOU have to do is listen with a pen in one hand and your calendar in the other.
Here's what to go see and hear for the week of Wednesday August 25th through Wednesday September 1st (and a little bit after):
Friday August 27th @ United States Art Authority: KVRX Summer Concert Series

Wednesday September 1st @ Mohawk:

Friday September 3rd @ Stubb's:
Rodrigo y Gabriela- (dueling flamenco guitar) http://www.myspace.com/rodrigoygabriela
Kelsey O. knows it can be overwhelming, this plethoric medley of new music. That's why at the end of each set she gives YOU a breather by remembering those artists that cannot be touring in Austin today. The "in memoriam" track is a way to salute dead musicians, groups suffering from the Yoko-complex, bands suspended in indefinite hiatuses, or bands that just can't tour because they suffer from extreme agoraphobia or because their moms won't let them leave the basement. Flavor of the Week's first honor-worthy in memoriam track was "Contact," sung by the late Brigitte Bardot and accompanied by the late Serge Gainsbourg -two of my favorite 60s French sex idols.
