Hello everyone! My name is Clint, and I am a 5th year Mechanical Engineering student here at UT. I am one of two DJs on Tokyo Seoul, a radio show that exclusively plays Japanese and Korean music.
Many people ask me why I listen to Japanese and Korean when I don't speak Japanese or Korean. Music isn't just about knowing the lyrics, but about how the lyrics and vocal patterns interface with the music. East Asian languages like Japanese and Korean are very different than English, and create a kind of music that is unique to anything heard in the United States.
Many people brush off this kind of music because it's not in English, or they've only heard some really poppy kpop songs, when there is a whole array of hidden treasures that just cannot be found in America. It is my desire to share these secrets with anybody and everybody I can.
