Fried Chicken brings attention to culture and activism traditionally ignored by mainstream media or marginalized as “subaltern”. We focus on media, local students, artists, and current events that tell the stories of peoples oppressed because of their gender, sexuality, race, religion, or material status. Among other topics we discuss are technology, economics, and politics on an international scale. Musically we explore underground artists in Jazz, Rap, Folk, Latino, and plenty of other Alternative subgenres. Overall, we seek to show how even the most culturally oppressed art, language, media, or food (hence the name) are just as "American" as are other cultural symbols like the American Flag, Heartland Rock, or Apple Pie.
