Mcmillan is the founder and director of Diverse Arts Culture Works, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the multicultural arts scene in Austin. In 1990 McMillan founded the Blues Family Tree Project, an oral history project that records the life histories of some of East Austin's esteemed blues legends.
