SHHHAAAGZZ! Artist Hour THIS Saturday!

Submitted by Lace on Thu, 04/17/2008 - 01:05.

Yes, they were New Hampshire's original Riot Grrls! The Shaggs: comprised of the three Wiggins sisters, who came together at their father's bidding in 1976 to fulfill a prophecy made by their grandmother twenty years before they were born! They would go on to write and record some of the strangest pop songs ever laid to wax... The legend! The magic! The mystery and the tragedy! Frank Zappa said they were weird!

Artist Hour Tonite - The Milkshakes

Submitted by dean on Sat, 04/12/2008 - 17:50.

Or should we say THEE Milkshakes? Either way, it's a rundown of Billy Childish's classic Beatles-esque pop-rock group from the early 80s that sang all the classics --- from songs about beating up girls, to using girls for their money, or simply lamenting the fact that a certain girl is only 15 years old, The Milkshakes covered all the appropriate rock'n'roll bases, with zeal and charm. Nothing stopped these men.

This Saturday night from 10-11 pm CST, I'll be doing an artist hour on Huggy Bear and related bands (I'm Being Good, Phantom Pregnancies, Bloodsausage, The Element of Crime).

I might be joined by C.L. and K.M., who have cool HB rarities. I also might do an interview with K.S., who wrote her master's thesis on riot grrrl. Anyhow, should be fun either way. Tune in!
