Major and year?
Marketing and PR third year.

Which song, album, or artist initiated your love of music?
Probably Wilco’s Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. It’s kind of hard to pin down the album that started it all, but that was one that my dad and I listened to a lot when I was younger and I still love that album.

How did you first hear about or get involved with KVRX?
I grew up listening to KVRX! I’m from Austin, and when my dad and I would drive to school in the mornings we would listen to 91.7FM. I got involved with KVRX during Covid because I really wanted an outlet for my love of music, and thought it would be super cool to host a radio show.

What is your first KVRX memory?
My friends and I visited the station my freshman year because we had a friend who was in KVRX. I remember thinking it was such a cool space, and I forced my friends to play Brockhampton’s Saturation 2 because it was in the newbin. Cringe. But I remember thinking the station was really cool!

Which shows have you had on KVRX?
backalley phlebotomy - Spring and Fall 2021, freeform

Which KVRX staff positions have you held?
Graphics Director

How has KVRX affected your interaction with music?
I think I’m interested and involved in more aspects of the music scene because of KVRX. I feel more interconnected with the Austin music scene, and that’s been awesome. I feel like I listen to new albums more actively, rather than passively, and I care more about the people and artists that made the music than when I was younger. I think generally I’m just more emotionally involved in the entire process leading up to an album if that makes sense.

What's up outside of KVRX?
I work at Waterloo Records, and I’m managing the band Van Mary at the beginning of the new year. I also am involved in Afterglow and Student Government as a designer for both orgs. I have 4 roommates, who are some of my best friends, and I love hanging out with them. Not much is going on outside of KVRX because I spend the vast majority of my time doing things related to the radio station LOL.

What is your favorite part of KVRX?
The community, even though that sounds cheesy. I love everyone I’ve met in KVRX, and I have met some of my best friends through this organization. I love talking about random niche music things with my friends, and I wouldn’t trade that for the world 😎

What advice would you give to new DJ's?
Get involved! I became a PR intern my first semester in KVRX, which was the best decision, because it led to me being on staff and feeling like I have an influence in KVRX. Everyone is so nice and wants to see you succeed, so get involved! And submit to the zine hahaha.
