This past Friday the dazzling duo of Ecuadorian-Swiss Hermanos Gutierrez took the stage at Stubbs’ Waller Creek Amphitheater. The set began with a mystical trip to the cosmos led by the guitars of the brothers. They quickly pulled the already massive crowd in and their set continued with “Low Sun,” a grooving, ethereal track with a beautiful riff throughout from their upcoming album “Sonido Cosmico.” Daniel informed the audience after performing the song that it was their first time playing it live, to which the crowd cheered gleefully. The duo immediately began “Until We Meet Again,” a short, unreleased song off the upcoming album that showcases beautiful fingerpicking. Then Daniel introduced their next song “Tres Hermanos” which was written with Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys, of which they were opening for. They concluded with a warm thank you and goodbye before one more song which contained the most jammy of solos from Stephan’s lap steel guitar and a riff as catchy as any over a groovy bass line from Daniel.
